This workshop provides an overview of the principles of development and learning in early childhood based on the work of Jean Piaget, with a concentration on the early years of development. Content includes an in-depth study of Piaget’s framework for how very young children learn and understand their world. While the workshop concentrates on the first two years of development, it’s utility extends into early childhood and is appropriate and requisite for anyone working with young children. The workshop is designed to provide a framework for developmentally-appropriate interventions across disciplines and is aimed to provide effective strategies and tools, emphasizing the applicability of Piaget’s work in educational and therapeutic interventions. Participants will be presented with several scenarios and invited to discuss how to best utilize covered content in their own programs and services.
