Preparing Your Child for a Successful Return to School
Transitioning back to school after break can bring excitement, but it can also bring anxiety to many children. Establishing routines before the first day helps children feel more comfortable and prepared for the new school year.
Parents can support a smooth transition by:
Setting or returning to a consistent bedtime and morning routine
Practicing independence with dressing and packing backpacks
Talking positively about school and new experiences
Visiting the school or playground beforehand, if possible
Encouraging open conversations about any worries
Children receiving therapy services may also benefit from communicating with teachers about accommodations and support plans before school begins.
Our team works alongside families and educators to help children develop the confidence and skills needed for success both inside and outside the classroom. View our services to learn more.
