Building Social Skills Through Play

Play is how children learn about the world around them. As they build friendships, solve problems, and use their imagination, they're also developing important skills that help them grow in confidence and prepare for school and everyday life.

Important social skills developed through play include:

  • Taking turns

  • Sharing with others

  • Following directions

  • Problem-solving

  • Expressing emotions appropriately

  • Building friendships

Some children need extra support developing these skills, especially those with developmental delays, autism spectrum disorder, or communication challenges.

With the right guidance and encouragement, every child can gain the confidence they need to feel comfortable connecting with others and thrive in everyday situations.
